Conor McGregor wants to become the first to hold UFC titles in three divisions
Conor McGregor still has grand plans for his UFC return and recently posted them. The Irishman, who is a former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight champion, tweeted that he intends to move up a division and win a third title.
McGregor holds several records during his UFC career, but winning a title in a third division would be an unbelievable feat. He would be the first one to do it too but Henry Cejudo isn’t too sure of that.
Triple C, who, like McGregor, also held two UFC belts at one time, suggested that he would be the first one to achieve that.
Cejudo, who retired from MMA in 2020 has been eyeing the UFC Featherweight title and has called out Alexander Volkanovski several times.
Triple C slammed McGregor in a tweet and even brought up the privilege the Irishman gets from Dana White.
Cejudo was possibly alluding to the fact that White gives McGregor what he wants. However, it is difficult to argue with those decisions from White given that the Irishman is the biggest name in the sport.
Is Conor McGregor done or will he be back to his best?
McGregor currently is on a two-fight losing streak and his last outing ended in disaster. This was his trilogy against Dustin Poirier, which took place at UFC 264. McGregor broke his ankle at the end of the first round and has been out since July 2021.
The Irishman also lost the fight prior to that, which was a TKO loss to Poirier. In fact, McGregor has only won one of his last three fights and that came against Donald Corrine in January 2020.
McGregor has posted a lot of videos of himself training, and he seems to be bulking up as well. The Irishman might just get a title shot in his next outing, however, beating the Welterweight king, Kamaru Usman, is a tough ask.
Usman is undefeated in his MMA career and has dominated his division. He has defeated Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington twice, and his next title defence should be against Leon Edwards.
