Dana White could not help but bring up Khabib Nurmagomedov in the MMA GOAT debate when talking about Kamaru Usman
UFC president Dana White was on ESPN MMA this week, and he was mostly talking about Khabib Nurmagomedov.
And why wouldn’t he be? The biggest topic in the sport right now seems to be Khabib’s decision on whether he wants to return to UFC or not.
But White even brought it up when he was talking about Kamaru Usman. The boss thinks that Usman is one of the best in the business right now.
White admitted that he was not a fan of him before, but after the Rafael dos Anjos fight, Usman won him over, especially by how he looks to finish guys now rather than wrestle them for the entirety of the fight.
“He [Usman] is always trying to finish you now. He is completely changed, he is one of the most dominant guys in the sport. It’s hard to [call him] the most dominant when you have still got guys like Khabib out there.”
So it looks like as long as ‘The Eagle’ has a chance to make a UFC return, no one can change White’s mind when it comes who the MMA GOAT is.
White just cannot seem to leave the Russian alone. He now says he would fancy seeing the Russian in the basketball court.
The UFC president was on Complex this week, and said that he would pay (quite a handsome amount at that) to see The Eagle take on Daniel Cormier in the basketball court.
“DC vs Khabib at basketball. These are two guys whom I have a lot of respect for as athletes and as people. And you know what a ball-buster Cormier is. I would love to do that though, we’ve got to set it up. 1-on-1 Khabib vs Cormier, and I’d put up like, 10 grand.”
Khabib does know how to play football, at least a little bit, but his basketball skills are yet to be seen anywhere.
And you just know Dana would do anything to organize an event for Khabib soon, whether it’s a UFC fight or a basketball match.
