UFC President Dana White spoke about Conor McGregor returning from injury

It has been over 5 months since Conor McGregor suffered an ankle break. The Irishman, facing Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, in a trilogy fight, had his left ankle snapped towards the end of the first round.

The fight was awarded to Poirier (TKO by means of doctor stoppage); McGregor was taken to the hospital immediately and underwent surgery. He was also slapped with a 6-month medical suspension.

With the date of his suspension soon to get over, talks of his return have been rife. In the wake of this, UFC President Dana White shed some light on the UFC lightweight’s return.

Speaking in an interview with Brett Okamoto, White spoke about the ever-hungry attitude of McGregor before revealing a possible timeline for his return.

White was quoted as saying:

“The thing that I have been saying about him, and I’ll always say about him – this guy’s got plenty of money, but he’s still super-passionate about fighting, fired up to come back and he’s out there doing everything he needs to do to get himself ready to perform again…He’s chomping at the bit to get back.”

He continued:

“If everything goes right with the healing of his leg, he should fight this summer.”

Conor McGregor vs Jake Paul in 2022?

With Conor McGregor going down the rankings, and Jake Paul surging elsewhere, in professional boxing, chances of the two going head-on might become a possibility.

Paul has been calling out McGregor for more than a year, and now that his career has been gathering steam, his callouts seem to make a lot more sense.

Should McGregor lose his next fight in the UFC, chances of a Paul-McGregor boxing showdown are very high.
