Justin Gaethje has been absent for quite a while leaving fans wondering when his next fight would be
Gaethje last stepped inside the Octagon at UFC 254 on the 24th of October, last year. He faced Khabib Nurmagomedov on that iconic night, where the ‘Eagle’ hung up his gloves.
Despite being ranked number 2 in the lightweight rankings, he hasn’t fought in the last 7 months, or in fact even come close to being matched up with an opponent.
However, it now looks like he will soon be paired with one, after UFC President Dana White’s recent interview with TMZ Sports.
White exclaimed that Gaethje vs Michael Chandler is the fight he is currently having in mind, and might look to take it forward:
“He could fight Gaethje, we’ll see. We don’t have anything done yet, but that makes sense. And, that would be a fun fight.”
Chandler is just coming off a loss against Charles Oliveira at UFC 262, where he fought for the vacant lightweight title. Despite losing the fight, Chandler impressed almost everyone with his explosive power and mentality.
Dana White says Charles Oliveira will fly in to watch Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 3
Oliveira who became the lightweight champion at UFC 262 will be defending his title against the winner of the Conor McGregor-Dustin Poirier trilogy.
The fight is scheduled to take place at UFC 264 on the 10th of July, and according to Dana White, Oliveira is set to attend the high-voltage clash.
White told TMZ Sports:
“Oliveira is gonna fly in for that fight. He’s gonna come watch that fight, he’ll be there.”
