Dana White had to field several questions on UFC 248 ahead of the Yoel Romero vs Israel Adesanya fight
UFC 248 sees Yoel Romero challenge Israel Adesanya, however, Dana White was questioned regarding the booking.
Adesanya is unbeaten in his MMA career and the Middleweight champion isn’t pleased at facing Romero.
There is no doubt that Romero is one of the toughest fighters in the business, but handing him the title bout was a little questionable.
CBS’ Brian Campbell asked White about this:
“When did I not get criticism for fights I made over the last 20 years?
“Some of the biggest fights we’ve ever done, people have criticised. Everybody thinks they’re an expert, none of them really are.”
White also confirmed that the matchmakers didn’t agree with the Romero vs Adesanya fight, but this still was a great clash for the Middleweight title.
The UFC president claimed that no one wanted to fight Romero. However, Adesanya wanted the Cuban to be part of his legacy.
Romero has been doing a great job in the promos ahead of the fight, however, Adesanya has to be the clear favourite to keep hold of his title.
White thinking of other fights too
The UFC president also highlighted who Conor McGregor’s future opponent could be. He confirmed that plans are on for the Irishman to face the winner of the Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson fight.
White also spoke about the clash between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Zhang Weili. The UFC president added that it would be an amazing co-main event at UFC 248.
Zhang will be defending her title for the first time but has claimed this bout would be easier than the one against Jessica Andrade.
