Dana White reveals Derrick Lewis vs Francis Ngannou is likely to be in August UFC 265

Francis Ngannou and Derrick Lewis have already fought once a couple of years ago

Ngannou became the new heavyweight champion at UFC 260 after brutally knocking out the consensus heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic in just two rounds.

He was expected to defend his title against heavyweight newcomer Jon Jones. However, a pay dispute between Jones and the UFC President Dana White, saw the chance go to Derrick Lewis.

Lewis is currently ranked number 2 in the heavyweight division, and he very well deserves to take on Ngannou.

The last time they fought, was at UFC 226. In one of the most boring matches ever, Lewis emerged victorious via. unanimous decision. Hardly there were any punches thrown that night.

Elsewhere, UFC President Dana White spoke to Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports, and it has been learned that he is planning to set up a title fight between Lewis and Ngannou in Houston, probably in August. The event is likely to be UFC 265.

Winner of Francis Ngannou vs Derrick Lewis is expected to face Stipe Miocic

The UFC wouldn’t just let their longstanding Miocic at crossroads. He is tipped to get another shot at the title; he is expected to face the winner of Ngannou vs Lewis.

Now, Miocic has been trying out a different plan this time. He wants to fight at least 20lbs heavier this time. ‘The Cleveleland’s Finest’ feels it would give him some renewed strength.

A win for Miocic would put him right at the top among the all-time greats. Not that he isn’t there now, but a win would cement his place and legacy.
