UFC President Dana White wants Khabib Nurmagomedov to make a return soon but he won’t stop pestering the Russian yet
One big question been on the minds of everyone regarding the possible UFC return of Khabib Nurmagomedov.
It isn’t “when” the Russian will be back but if Dana White will stop pestering The Eagle. Khabib retired from the UFC after defeating Justin Gaethje and keeping his Lightweight title.
The Russian shocked the world by announcing his decision right after the fight and this was a promise he made to his mother.
Khabib finished his career with a record of 29-0 but there have been talks of a mega fight against Georges St-Pierre for his 30th and possible last clash.
GSP vs Khabib is something big and Dana White has been meeting with the Russian over a possible return.
While Khabib hinted that he might return if someone impressed him at UFC 257, that didn’t happen. He didn’t find anything great from the Lightweights in that clash. However, that hasn’t stopped White from calling Khabib out.
He has another meeting planned this week but was asked before UFC 258 when he will stop asking the Russian to return.
White gave an expected answer and claimed that he would only stop when Khabib told him to:
“It is not going to happen. Not going to happen.
“Until Khabib says ‘leave me alone, leave me alone. Stop asking me, I am done’.
“He is not saying that, has he said that?”
Khabib Nurmagomedov sees Dustin Poirier as the champion
While Khabib returning will be a huge talking point, the Russian has already suggested that Dustin Poirier should be the champion.
Khabib defeated the Diamond a while back to win the title. However, Poirier put on a great show at UFC 257 and got his revenge against Conor McGregor.
Poirier has been calling himself as the uncrowned champion and it will be interesting to see what the UFC does next.
McGregor vs Poirier 3 seems to be in the works and this could be for the title too. White hasn’t taken the gold off Khabib but that could change after their latest meeting.
