”He shouldn’t be serious about it” – Dana White shuts down talks of a super-fight between Kamaru Usman and Canelo

UFC President Dana White confirmed that a boxing fight between Kamaru Usman and Canelo makes no sense and labelled it as a ‘stupid idea’

Welterweight champion and UFC P4P best fighter Kamaru Usman has been lobbying for a boxing supermatch against Canelo Alvarez, the P4P best in boxing. He believes he possesses the skillset to finish Canelo inside three rounds. The MMA community is divided by the prospect of this idea, although the narrative of ‘Best vs Best’ appeals to many.

UFC president Dana White banished the idea in its entirety, calling it ‘a stupid fight that makes no sense.’ Although this is not the first time an MMA fighter has tried their hands in boxing, White is not too keen about letting it happen again, and advised Usman to forget about the idea.

“I think that [Usman] serious about it —he shouldn’t be serious about it,” White told Sky Sports. “I don’t like that fight at all.”

“Everything about it is horrible. Usman is not a boxer. Canelo is probably the best guy out there right now. It’s a stupid fight that makes no sense.”
