Dana White unsure of what the future holds for Israel Adesanya after Jan Blachowicz title fight
Israel Adesanya is ready to grab headlines. The UFC middleweight champion is one fight away from becoming a double champ.
The only person standing between him and this incredible feat is Jan Blachowicz, who is the current light heavyweight champion.
The Nigerian-born Kiwi has nothing left to prove in the middleweight division. A step up to light heavyweight is probably the next best thing for him.
And if he can beat the Pole to conquer two divisions, he would genuinely make a case for being one of the greatest of this generation. That is something that Chael Sonnen would also agree with it.
Nevertheless, his future after the title fight continues to capture the imagination of the fans. Okay, he beat Blachowicz. He’s the double champ now. Or, ‘John’ beats him. Adesanya loses at UFC 259. In either case, what next for him?
This is something that UFC president Dana White answered this week on ESPN MMA. He, however, gave a very vague answer which indicates that he himself unsure about what to expect.
“I don’t know. I don’t know what he is going to do. If he wins at 205, does he want Jon Jones? I don’t know. Watching that whole thing play out is going to be fun too.”
If White mentioned it, there is a possibility of it. After all, he and Jon Jones had a whole thing on social media last year.
Jones vacated the belt to go up to heavyweight and only then did the Nigerian decide to finally make way to 205.
While that can mean he wanted to avoid Jones, it can also mean that it would be the only real challenge left for him if he wants at UFC 259.
