Dana White “100 percent” wants to see Khamzat Chimaev vs Nate Diaz

UFC President Dana White is keen to put on the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev against the veteran Nate Diaz

Khamzat Chimaev might have one of the biggest names in the UFC as his next opponent, with Nate Diaz a possible rival.

While nothing has been confirmed as of yet, Dana White was speaking to TMZ and spoke about Diaz taking on the Swedish rising star.

Chimaev faced Li Jingliang at UFC 267 and destroyed his rival. He even carried the Chinese MMA star around before dropping him right in front of White.

Chimaev is now 10-0 in his pro MMA career and has ended all his fights in the UFC. Borz, as Chimaev is called, wanted a big name for his next fight and even dropped Diaz’s name.

Diaz, who last fought Leon Edwards in a losing cause at UFC 263, hasn’t spoken much about his next opponent. However, White told TMZ (h/t MMA Junkie) that he wanted to set up Chimaev vs Diaz.

“We’re gonna talk to Nate about it,” White told TMZ Sports. “One hundred percent.”

Is Khamzat Chimaev the next big star for the UFC?

Chimaev made a name for himself after winning two fights in the space of seven days at Fight Island back in 2020.

This was even more impressive since the wins came in different divisions, but Covid-19 cut short his rise to the top.

Borz was out of action for more than a year dealing with the after-effects of contracting Covid-19. White even helped the Swede out in his treatment and all seems well for now as Chimaev looked unstoppable at UFC 267.

White praised Chimaev further and claimed that the Swede’s walkout had created a record on Instagram:

“When you think about, he’s got more UFC wins than he’s been hit inside the octagon. Insane. And the other night, our social team, they filmed his walkout on Instagram Live, it broke the record. It’s the biggest Instagram Live we’ve ever done.”

It will be interesting to see when the UFC can set this up. Of course, it also depends on Diaz accepting the fight.

The American has never backed down from a rival, and this could be one of the biggest clashes of the year in the UFC.
