Daniel Cormier just wants to see Khabib Nurmagomedov face Georges St-Pierre soon
UFC legend Daniel Cormier was speaking to the Schmo ahead of the latest UFC Fight Island event.
The retired UFC star claimed that travelling from America to the UAE was tough on him and he wasn’t keen on doing this repeatedly.
However, DC did get a lot of sleep during the fight and answered some big questions posed by the Schmo.
One of them revolved around Khabib Nurmagomedov and his quest to face Georges St-Pierre. The problem is the weight class for the pair as Khabib is a Lightweight while GSP last fought in the Middleweight division.
Cormier was asked how they would meet, and DC believed it had to be a catchweight:
“I think that is the fight you finally do at catchweight. Everybody’s talked about 165, if you got GSP willing to come down five pounds from Welterweight to fight Khabib who doesn’t have to suck himself all the way down to 55 and fight at 165, that can be justified.
“Especially if Khabib says I am done at 30 fights. I am 29-0 and I want to fight the guy who is considered the greatest of all time. I think you make that fight happen.”
GSP vs Khabib could be one of the greatest clashes in the history of the UFC. However, all that can only take place once Khabib has defeated Justin Gaethje.
That won’t be an easy clash but Cormier called out the UFC president, Dana White in all this. White and Cormier are close and DC also suggested that belts and weight classes didn’t matter after of the super fight:
“The weight, the belts, all that stuff is irrelevant when you put those two types of guys in a fight. No matter what it takes, Dana, boss, no matter what it takes, please, for not only just me but the fans around the world lets make it happen.”
Khabib is on a quest to go 30-0 in his MMA career and two fights stand in his way. Many believe he is one of the greatest to have ever graced MMA, but he faces a real test at UFC 254 against Gaethje.
