Daniel Cormier recently retired from the UFC after losing to Stipe Miocic and wants Anderson Silva to stop fighting too
Anderson Silva will go down as one of the greatest MMA athletes of all-time, however, he has been on a bit of a slide in recent years.
The 45-year-old recently lost to Uriah Hall and there have been some calls for him to hang it up and retire.
Dana White, the UFC president, has openly said he doesn’t want Silva to fight, and the Brazilian’s legacy is being tarnished.
Silva has several UFC records and was one reason why the promotion became big over the past decade. However, like all good things, it is time for him to retire, according to Daniel Cormier.
DC is a former two-division UFC Champion and recently retired after losing to Stipe Miocic at UFC 252.
He brought up a comparison with Michael Jordan not playing at his best and also wanting to remember Silva for the good times he had in the UFC:
Anderson has done so many special things in this game. He doesn’t need to fight anymore, this choice is his but I’d like my memories of the spider to be in the organization that made him a superstar. I wouldn’t have wanted to see Micheal Jordan playing in China to keep playing. pic.twitter.com/LU6GxVb7vM

Tough times for Silva
The Brazilian-American was extremely emotional after this loss and he spent a few minutes in the Octagon soaking in the atmosphere.
Silva was 33-4 in 2012 and he has lost seven out of his next nine fights since then. The Spider, as he is called, also lost his Middleweight belt to Chris Weidman to start his slide, and he has never been the same again.
Cormier knew when his time was up and he stopped at the right time. DC had also stated that he would have retired even if he defeated Miocic for the crown.
It is to be seen what happens with Silva after his latest loss. The Spider is one of the greatest in the history of MMA but these losses are not helping him one bit.
