Conor McGregor seems to be the one UFC fighter that can boost PPV sales

Daniel Cormier named Conor McGregor as the one UFC fighter that can boost the sales of a fight.

Cormier was speaking to Ariel Helwani on their MMA show and the topic of Jon Jones’ recent squabbles with the UFC came up.

Jones decided to vacate his Light Heavyweight title after being denied the right money for fighting Francis Ngannou.

Cormier and Helwani were discussing UFC receipts and how it was difficult to hand Jones a huge amount.

Cormier was also speaking about his biggest fights and he only managed to cross the 800,000 mark. However, the former champion claimed that having two top fighters doesn’t ensure a top UFC event.

There was one man that could sell huge PPV events, and it was McGregor. The Irishman might have recently made his return to the UFC but he still is one of the biggest draws, according to Cormier:

“It’s almost lightning in a bottle. The only person who can recreate that over and over is Conor [McGregor].

“He is the only one who has been able to do that time and time again.”

Big money for Jones

McGregor has been linked with fights against Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal recently. Usman vs Masvidal seemed to be set but that changed completely with McGregor now trying his luck in the Welterweight division.

While any fight featuring McGregor would be huge, Jones was also looking for a big payday from his Ngannou fight.

Helwani was uncertain about how much Jones wanted but Cormier wanted to play detective. Jones had spoken about half the money that Deontay Wilder gets, and Cormier said that the amount was $15million.

Jones is one of the top stars in the UFC, and it will be interesting to see what happens next with the champion.

McGregor too needs a fight after defeating Donald Cerrone, and it could be against Usman too.
