Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier 3 is DC’s last fight in the UFC
UFC 252 sees one chapter close with Daniel Cormier facing off against Stipe Miocic for the final time.
This clash is for the UFC Heavyweight title and DC, as Cormier is called, will retire from the Octagon, irrespective of the result.
The former Heavyweight champion and Miocic have met twice in the past with the score 1-1. The third meeting should decide who is the best between them, but DC has been committed to his media appearances while getting into shape.
Cormier was on Ariel Helwani’s MMA show and the pair spoke about the Heavyweight division in the UFC.
Helwani claimed that Stipe Miocic could be in the title fight should Cormier beat him on 15 August. While Cormier has a huge rivalry with Miocic, he agreed that the current champion should be in the running for the vacant belt:
“Could be. Stipe should be back in the title fight. Cause even though I’ll have beaten him twice, he still had more title defences than any UFC champion.”
The MMA journalist suggested that Francis Ngannou vs Miocic would be the one fight for the vacant belt. But Cormier interjected again by claiming that Miocic would need a lot of time off after UFC 252.
Cormier vs Miocic should be special but it seems that DC feels he has some sort of advantage going into the fight.
Dana White confirmed that this clash would take place at the UFC APEX facility. Many clashes have already been held in the location due to the coronavirus pandemic and Cormier was more than happy the fight was going to be in the smaller cage.
He promised to attack Miocic’s legs and even warned his rival to up his wrestling game. Cormier does have a great wrestling background, and it will be interesting to see how the fight goes.
Ngannou, for his part, has been waiting patiently for a title shot despite losing once against Miocic.
Miocic vs Ngannou 2 should be a great bout too. However, it is to be seen if Miocic comes into this fight as the champion or without a belt around his waist.
