Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier have met twice in the past
Daniel Cormier wants to know when he faces Stipe Miocic next. The pair have met twice for the Heavyweight title and the record is 1-1.
Miocic is the current UFC Heavyweight Champion but has taken time off to deal with eye surgery. That injury took place in the match against Cormier where DC eye-poked Miocic several times.
However, Miocic will have to defend his title soon and Cormier has been badgering him regarding that. The champion responded that they are planning for the rematch and suggested he would have retired DC if it weren’t for his eye injury.
Miocic tweeted the following on social media:
“I’ve already said I’m going to fight DC. He just likes to make noise. My team is working on securing a training location and dates w UFC.
“I have five belts at home. I don’t need to sit on anything. If I didn’t have a torn retina, I would’ve already fought & retired @dc_mma.”
However, DC wasn’t taking any of it and just wanted to know when the fight would take place:
“Champ, that’s perfect and all I wanna hear. Just give me a date! That’s it, let us all know. You said the fall, when in the fall is all we are asking.”
Ngannou waiting in the wings
DC vs Miocic III would be an amazing fight but the champion has to have perfect vision to compete. The vision issue hurt him in the first meeting when DC defeated him. However, there is another star waiting in the wings.
Francis Ngannou produced another monstrous performance against Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC 249. He knocked out the undefeated MMA star in 20 seconds and is third in the rankings for the Heavyweight division.
He has lost to Miocic in the past but wants another crack at the title. Dana White has to deal with Ngannou and it will be interesting to see when he gets a fight against possibly the winner from Miocic and DC.
