Danielle Nickerson detailed the alleged abuse she suffered from her ex-husband Mike Perry

Danielle Nickerson, the ex-wife of Mike Perry, explained her actions as to why she opened up on the alleged abuse by the UFC star in their relationship.

Nickerson was called the Platinum Princess when the pair were together in the UFC. The 28-year-old was a tennis player and she met Perry in the gym. She was speaking to MMA Junkie and shared in graphic detail what all had happened between them.

She alleged that Perry even ground and pound her on February 10, 2020 and only let off after he got tired (h/t MMA Junkie):

“He had his knee on my belly and just ground-and-pounded me until he got tired,” Nickerson said. “I did a decent job of covering my face. I still had hematomas on the back of my head.

“My entire right side from my entire arm, my legs, my ribs, everything was covered in bruises the next few days.

“He just got all of his anger out on me, and on the last punch I clearly – I think that’s why he stopped, is we heard my rib crack. He knew and sat back, and I think he was just tired – tired of hitting me so much.”

She was able to run away to her neighbours and got help from Perry’s mother. She took Nickerson back home but Perry tried to enter the house. Fortunately, the police came over and dealt with the issue.

While Perry has denied such claims, Nickerson has opened up on why she is speaking out this much about the issue.

Helping out other victims

Nickerson believed that these details won’t hurt Perry or even affect his career in the UFC. Howeever she, wanted others affected by domestic violence to speak out too.

She posted a lengthy message from the MMA Junkie interview on her Instagram and posted a message of support for others too.

It took so many months to obtain county records and 911 phone calls and any evidence to validate the severity of what happened. I truly believe God only gives you situations you are strong enough to handle and if He brings you to it He will help bring you through it. Just because you are tough enough to take it though… doesn’t mean you should. Hoping this encourages women who are going through or have been through a similar situation. Know you’re not alone and it’s ok to talk about it. If you think you know someone going through a similar experience, make sure you’re there for them. Tell them they are loved and you will always be there for them, Trust me it’s the only thing getting them through some days. This is a very shortened clip of the entire interview where I answer most questions everyone asked on my previous post in July. To watch the entire video you have to go to @mmajunkiedotcom YouTube channel. The link to that and the article are in my story. Nickerson also spoke about alcohol being a problem for Perry and how he would rage up on certain occasions.

Perry is currently with Latory Gonzalez and has had another run-in with the law. He was arrested for his part in a bar brawl and is undergoing treatment for his alcohol problem.

Perry will be in action against Robbie Lawler next at UFC 255. However, it will be interesting to see who is in his corner. Gonzalez, his girlfriend, was his cornerwoman the last time around.
