What were the judges scores at Deiveson Figueiredo vs Brandon Moreno 1 at UFC 256?

Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo put on a fight for the ages in the main event of UFC 256 in December 2020, and here is how the judges’ scorecard read

Brandon Moreno vs Deiveson Figueiredo 1 was an absolute bloodbath. The fight headlined UFC 256, and it was for the flyweight title, with Figueiredo going into his second title defense.

Even more impressive was the fact that both Moreno and Figueiredo turned up for the contest, just 21 days after their previous fight at UFC 255.

The fight went the full five rounds, and the judges were still not able to separate the two in the end as the match ended in a majority draw.

Upon checking the judges’ scorecard it was learnt that two judges Sal D’Amato and Junichiro Kamijo had scored a draw, whereas one judge, Derek Cleary had marked a win for Figueiredo.

D’Amato and Kamijo had scored the fight 47-47, whereas Cleary had scored it 48-46.

A rematch was agreed in the immediate aftermath and the pair are now set to face-off in the co-main event of UFC 263 this weekend. The card is headlined by a middleweight title fight between Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori.

Figuiredo has vowed to finish the Mexican this time around.

Deiveson Figueiredo was deducted one point in the 3rd round

Figueiredo would have emerged the winner at UFC 256, had it not been for his vicious groin strike which left Moreno grimacing in pain for a while.

As a result of this, Figueiredo was reduced one point. Had the point not been deducted his scores would have read 48-47, 48-47, 49-46, which would have resulted in a unanimous decision win for the Brazilian.

However, he could lay the ghosts of that nightmarish point deduction if he manages to see off the Assassin Baby, come this Saturday.
