Derek Brunson has seven knockouts in the UFC Middleweight division but wants to go one better and break a record held by Anderson Silva and Thiago Santos
UFC Middleweight star Derek Brunson is on a bit of a charge as he is on a three-fight win streak.
The 36-year-old last defeated Edmen Shahbazyan in August and that was a huge win given that his rival was undefeated coming into that clash.
Brunson also has some big wins over Lyoto Machida and Uriah Hall, and he is keen on getting a record under his name.
The 36-year-old has seven knockout wins in the UFC Middleweight division but wants to finish at the top of this list by the time he is done.
He is one behind the legendary Anderson Silva, who has eight, while Thiago Santos also has eight to his name.
The list has some incredible names too with Michael Bisping, Chris Leben, Hall and Yoel Romero all still on seven KO wins.
While Bisping has long retired and Leben hasn’t fought since 2013, the other stars are still active and looking for more wins.
Silva is the one who seems set for retirement after his loss to Hall in the latest UFC Fight Night event. Romero has been excellent in his UFC career and could get a few more wins under his belt too.
Santos, for his part, is to fight Glover Teixeira in his next outing which takes place this week. Brunson will have to be at his best to be at the top of the chart, but he has been fantastic over the past few weeks.
Holding a UFC record is always something to cherish but someone or another ends up breaking that. Getting the most knockouts in a division is a great badge, and it will be interesting to see who remains on top of this after a few years.
