UFC middleweight Derek Brunson reacts to Dana White slapping his wife twice.
The UFC president, Dana White, has come clean about hitting his wife on New Year’s Eve. White confirmed to TMZ that he had hit his wife in the viral footage that made headlines. White and his wife were seen speaking on a VIP balcony at a nightclub, and TMZ was able to obtain video evidence of this. White retaliated to his wife’s attack by slapping her across the face.
The pair were in Cabo, Mexico, enjoying New Year’s Eve when the unfortunate incident transpired. According to bystanders, the couple were heavily intoxicated and the situation escalated quickly with no initial signs of tension.
White confirmed to TMZ on Monday that he is the man in the video and that the woman in the video is his wife. According to White, the event occurred on December 31 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico:
“I’m in Cabo, Mexico for the holidays with my family, and my wife and I were out with family on New Year’s Eve, and unfortunately that’s what happened. I’m one of the guys, you’ve heard me say for years. There’s never, ever an excuse for a guy to put his hands on a woman. And now here I am on TMZ talking about it.”
White added:
“There was definitely a lot of alcohol, but there’s no excuse,” White continued. “I’m literally making no excuses for this thing at all. It’s never happened before. It’s the first time that it’s ever happened, and people are going to say what they’re going to say. It is what it is. And whatever people do say, it’s deserved. I deserve it. It happened.”
Derek Brunson believes Dana White should be given a second chance
Derek Brunson analyzed the whole situation and offered his stance on the matter. Anne White, the wife of UFC president Dana White, stating that her husband’s violent actions captured on video were not characteristic of him.
White, President of UFC, and his wife Anne were in Mexico to celebrate the New Year when an argument broke out, prompting White to slap Anne twice. A public apology from White was released after the footage was obtained by TMZ , much to the dismay of the combat sports supremo.
Brunson took to Twitter to react to the situation and wrote:
“Was Dana White wrong , “YES” . Men shouldn’t hit women. Do I feel this is a reflection of who Dana White is , NO. Dana has been a component of second chances . I think speaking up against the topic and maybe sit out two events is fair! He admitted he was wrong !”
