Derek Brunson wants Paulo Costa and even wanted some fans to create a poster for the pair
Derek Brunson seems ready for his next fight and has called out Paulo Costa.
The American is on a three-fight win streak and wants a piece of Costa. The Brazilian fought for the Middleweight title at UFC 253 but was humbled by Israel Adesanya.
Costa came into that fight undefeated in his MMA career and had hit out at the champion. The Brazilian made some rather unflattering comments about Adesanya before the fight but was taken to the cleaners by the Last Stylebender.
Adesanya has now been on a rampage with memes on Costa, but Brunson wants a piece of the Brazilian.
The 36-year-old called out the Brazilian and wanted to fight him on 12 December. That is the date for UFC 256, which is the final big event for the promotion this year.
The UFC Middleweight star also tagged Dana White, Ali Abdelaziz and Mick Maynard to help set up the fight.
Brunson also got some fans into the mood for this UFC fight. The 36-year-old asked some of them to share a few posted and shared a hilarious submission:
However, he did get another quality submission from a fan, and it will be interesting to see if the UFC makes this fight soon.
Costa’s ego was certainly hurt after the loss to Adesanya. He was completely destroyed over the two rounds and has spoken of coming back to face Adesanya.
The Last Stylebender, for his part, isn’t keen on a rematch and frankly, Costa has to get some wins under his belt to show he can take Izzy on again.
Brunson would be an excellent opponent and the 36-year-old and has been in great shape recently. He defeated the unbeaten Edmen Shahbazyan last and Costa would be an amazing scalp too.
