Nick Diaz took on Robbie Lawler on UFC 266
Nick Diaz returned to the octagon after six years of absence at UFC 266. Diaz faced Robbie Lawler which was a rematch of their first bout 17 years ago.
The two started off the match in an aggressive fashion and the crowd off loving it and so was the Notorious Conor McGregor. McGregor took to Twitter to share his reaction on the fight. McGregor tweeted:
“This is tremendous! Let’s go @ufc!”
As the match went on it was becoming noticeable that Diaz was tiring up. Lawler even managed to bust up Diaz’s nose. In the third round Diaz was dropped by a hook and also crouched on the canvas. The match was waved off when Diaz refused to stand up and was not in a condition to continue.
What happened in Curtis Blaydes vs Jairzinho Rozenstruik
Just prior to Diaz vs Lawler, Curtis Blaydes took on Jairzinho Rozenstruik in a three round fight. The match was also highly anticipated as two heavyweights clashed. Though it was expected to be a fist fest it turned out to be a tactical game of chess where the two tried to out do each other.
In the second round Blaydes was hit by a massive knee from Rozenstruik. His eye was visibly shut but it wasn’t that much of a problem as the fight was only three rounds. Blaydes eventually got a decision victory at the end of the third round.
