“Was not in my peak condition” – Diego Sanchez comments after Eagle FC loss to Kevin Lee

Diego Sanchez lost his Eagle FC debut but is ready for more MMA action

Kevin Lee and Diego Sanchez threw it down at Eagle FC 46 as the pair fought in the 165lb division.

While Sanchez did hurt Lee with a few kicks, The Nightmare was unable to pick up the win. Lee used a lot of wrestling to get a unanimous decision win over his rival. However, Sanchez had some thoughts after the loss.

The 40-year-old took to Instagram to share a message claimed that he wasn’t fully prepared for the fight. Sanchez also asked for a rematch with Lee, and brought up Khabib Nurmagomedov in his post as well.

“Was not in my peak condition due to circumstances of timeline for this fight but still felt if there was a fourth round I would have finished the fight. Can’t wait to get healthy and come back and rematch @motownphenom in a main event 5 rounder! @eaglefcmma with some wrestling training @khabib_nurmagomedov @ryanloco best mma photographer”

It will be interesting to see if Nurmagomedov does help Sanchez with some wrestling training. The Russian is the promoter for Eagle FC, and has confirmed that his fighting days are over.

Nurmagomedov, however, is still involved in the MMA game. He is a coach to many top Dagestani and Russian stars across several promotions.

The Ultimate Fighter 1 winner certainly is one of the original stars of the UFC, and he was part of the promotion till 2020.

Sanchez’s last fight in the UFC was a loss to Jake Matthews and this loss to Lee was his second on the spin.

The 40-year-old is still a huge name in the MMA circuit, and he has a couple of fights left on his Eagle FC contract.

The 165lb division does provide some interesting matchups and it is to be seen who Sanchez fights next. A rematch with Lee would be a good starting point, however, Nurmagomedov might have some other plans and set up something big as he tries to grow his promotion.
