Don Frye was captured punching a fan at UFC 270 following a heated argument
UFC Hall of Famer Don Frye’s fighter instincts kicked in during the recently concluded UFC 270 which was held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The former fighter was seen punching a fan in his face during an argument. The video (published by TMZ) captured at a distance (from a fan’s mobile) showed Frye in his traditional hat getting into a heated confrontation with a man and landing a jab on his head.
Frye is then seen being escorted by the guards. According to a report from TMZ (who had learnt from Frye himself), the fan was drunk and bumped into Frye. Once the argument began, the fan is believed to have allegedly challenged Frye to a fight.
And, that was when Frye landed the jab.
The event was headlined by a heavyweight title clash between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane. Ngannou successfully defended his heavyweight belt after beating Gane via. unanimous decision.
Don Frye made his MMA debut in February 1996 at UFC 8. His only loss in the UFC came against the legendary Mark Coleman at the UFC 10 tournament championship.
Frye then went on to fight in Pride FC, K-1, Hero’s among other promotions before finally retiring on the 11th of December, 2011 following a KO loss against Ruben Villareal at Gladiator Challenge: Mega Stars.
His MMA record reads 20 wins, 9 losses, 1 draw and 1 no-contest. In 2016, Frye was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
