Hip hop star Drake has bet a fortune on middleweight champion Israel Adesanya to beat Jared Cannonier
Drake is an avid MMA follower, and obviously keeps track of some of the biggest fights of the year. Drake has famously supported Conor McGregor at UFC 229, and on various occasions, openly expressing his admiration for the Irish superstar. He is often seen betting big money on fights, also loosing some in the process.
Israel Adesanya is all set to face Jared Cannonier at UFC 276, in ascent of his fifth successful title defense. He is also a huge betting favorite having not lost a single fight in the middleweight division.
Drake has conjured a reputation of being a bad luck for fighters that he supports or bets on. In the past he had famously bet big bucks on Jorge Masvidal to beat bitter rival Colby Covington, and on Justin Gaethje to dethorne Charles Oliviera as the lightweight champion. While Masvidal’s sting was extracted by the high-pressure chain wrestling of Covington, who breezed past his rival with a unanimous decision victory, Charles Oliveira dismantled Justin Gaethje in an adrenaline fueled one round fight and submitted him.
He posted a video of him facetiming Israel Adesanya, and speaking about the money he’s bet on the ‘Last Stylebender’. Drake also said that Izzy’s path has been inspirational, and he looks up to the middleweight champion.
He captioned the post, ‘One of the most inspiring guys to me…the death note author himself and my partner with @stake @stylebender BIG FIGHT TMRW…got a million on it 🤷🏽♂️’
The UFC returns with a stacked pay-per-view card for the International Fight Week, when UFC 276 goes down on 2nd July at T-Mobile Arena. The card features two title fights at the top of the card, with a total of 12 fights. The event will be headlined by a middleweight championship bout between Israel Adesanya and Jared Cannonier.
PlayStation released a new trailer for their video game Elden Ring, which features none other than the UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Elden Ring is a 2022 action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and made in collaboration with the fantasy novelist George R. R. Martin, who provided material for the setting.
In the video, ‘The Last Stylebender’ describes how one’s mentality decides the fate of their person. The middleweight champion is a huge fan of music, art, anime and games. This is what he had to say in the trailer-
“Think you know strength? Think you have the endurance or the focus to conquer Titans? Because I do. I’ve done it. You see, power is nothing without the mind to control it. A king is not crowned without first slaying his demons! So, when you fall, don’t lose faith. Get back up. Be sharper than your swords and hit harder than their hammer. And may death never stop you.”
