Drew Dober had to dig deep and overcome some adversity, eventually knocking out Terrance McKinney in an enthralling battle
It was a wild lightweight clash between Drew Dober and short-notice replacement Terrance McKinney at the UFC Vegas 50. The fight in itself did not go outside the first round, but delivered one of the greatest moments of the entire card.
McKinney started the round strong, and tried his best at overwhelming Dober with a quick barrage of attacks. In what was a wild exchange, McKinney even managed to land a knee flush to Dober, that brought him to his knees. Dober gathered himself up to his feet, but his opponent gave him no chance to recover, and continued the onslaught.
Dober resorted to throwing hands of his own to keep McKinney at distance, to regroup himself and dish out his own offense. Dober got the better in one such exchange, and landed a knee straight down the pipe and floored McKinney. He followed up with some severe ground and pound, eventually stopping him.
He took the opportunity of being in the limelight to call out crowd-favorite Bobby Green.
Drew Dober pumped brakes on the Terrance McKinney hype train, knocking him out cold in the first round of their lightweight bout.
The fight was trending strongly on the internet, even being hailed as ‘fight of the night’. Pros and MMA experts were quick to compliment Dober on his fantastic performance.
However, the UFC turned a blind eye to his performance, and did not give out an extra 50 grand for his enthralling performance.
It would’ve been rewarding to see the company acknowledge Dober’s performance and give out a bonus for this showing,
