Dustin Poirier itching for fourth fight against Conor McGregor after stoppage win

UFC star Dustin Poirier is wanting a fourth fight against ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor after the Irishman suffered a broken leg at UFC 264.

Poirier has now won his last two fights against McGregor, but is not content with how it ended. In the post match interview, he spoke about a rematch saying:

“We are going to fight again, whether it’s in the Octagon or on the sidewalk. … He was saying that he was going to kill me. You don’t say stuff like that.”

The rivalry between the two intensified which led to a second meeting this year, after McGregor had promised to donate to Poirier’s charity.

Poirier scored his second TKO win over McGregor this year when McGregor took an awkward step back at the end of Round 1 and his leg appeared to break. According to sources, McGregor’s lower tibia was broken, meaning he could not continue.

McGregor holds just one win at lightweight in his UFC career, knocking out Eddie Alvarez to win the 155-pound title in November 2016. McGregor is now 1-3 at lightweight in the UFC.

Hopefully, McGregor returns to his best soon as he is one of the biggest draws in the UFC. We wish him a speedy recover and hope that he returns to the Octagon to finish what he started. Poirier will be waiting in the wings, till McGregor makes his comeback.

Dana White talks about possible rematch

White will be impressed with how the rivalry has panned out between the pair. Initially, McGregor dominated and helped take UFC and White to another level. This time around, he will also be eager to sort out one more fight, post McGregor’s recovery.

McGregor will be out of action for months

White said that a fourth fight between Poirier and McGregor would be on the cards once McGregor, who will have surgery on his injured leg on Sunday is “healed up.”

Poirier will get his opportunity for the lightweight title against recently-crowned champion Charles Oliveira in his next fight.
