Khabib Nurmagomedov met former UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta and called out Dana White fuelling rumours of a return
Lorenzo Fertitta is one of the biggest names when it comes to the UFC. The Italian-American entrepreneur is one of the men responsible for the growth of the UFC into what it is today.
Fertitta might not be the CEO of the UFC any more after the sale to WME-IMG, but he is still a well-respected member for the MMA community.
Many top stars still meet with him and Khabib Nurmagomedov met with Lorenzo recently. The Eagle retired from the UFC a few months back after defeating Justin Gaethje.
Khabib ended his career at 29-0 and holding the UFC Lightweight title. However, there have been talks of a super fight with Georges St-Pierre.
Khabib has avoided talk of a return while Dana White continues to try and get his star back. The Eagle meeting with Fertitta raised a lot of eyebrows and Khabib’s message also sent many people crazy:
Calling Dana White out for a meeting isn’t new from Khabib or the UFC president. White has been trying his level best to get Khabib back in the game but he has been unsuccessful so far.
However, Khabib is still in his prime and him coming back to the UFC for a 30th fight would be something special.
For now, Khabib seems content at being away from the action inside the Octagon. He is still training hard and keeping in shape but not to the levels as when he was a champion.
That makes sense and Khabib also seems to be enjoying his time as a coach. He was in the corner of Islam Makhachev when his friend took on Drew Dober.
Makhachev has been touted as the future Khabib and the Russian impressed many with a win over Dober.
It will be interesting to see what is next in line for Khabib. However, many fans believed this was a sign that Khabib was returning to the UFC:
