Talks of a high-voltage clash between Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz have been rife in recent times
Ever since Dustin Poirier failed to clinch the lightweight title at UFC 269, talks of a welterweight fight against Nate Diaz began.
The two were set to face each other in November 2018 at UFC 230; but the fight never happened since Poirier, a couple of weeks before the fight, pulled out citing an injury.
Diaz has very often been critical of Poirier pulling out of the fight, and keeps bringing it up, even until this day.
Now that the UFC extended ‘The Stockton Slugger’s contract, a fight against ‘The Diamond’ makes a lot of sense.
More recently, Poirier took to Twitter to answer a few fan questions. When asked about why the possible fight against Diaz has not been announced, Poirier claimed that Diaz was not down for it.
“I’m down, he’s not,” Poirier wrote on Twitter.
Diaz last fought Leon Edwards at UFC 263. The fight saw Edwards win via. unanimous decision after a late scare of Diaz.
Dustin Poirier lost to Charles Oliveira at UFC 269. This was his second failed attempt at the lightweight championship.
Off the Octagon, he has been marketing his sauce – Poirier’s Louisiana Style hot sauce pretty well.
More recently, Oliveira was seen posing with a couple of Louisiana hot sauce bottles. The lightweight champ also gave his verdict that the sauce was amazing.
Poirier wrote:
“I took a L but made a sell! Always be closing! Thanks champ!“
