Dustin Poirier lost his last fight but wants another one soon

Dustin Poirier sent out a simple message to the UFC stating that he wants to fight. The Diamond was last in action at UFC 269 where he fought Charles Oliveira for the Lightweight title.

Poirier was defeated by the Brazilian thanks to a rear-naked choke. That fight took place in December 11, 2021, and Poirier is yet to find another opponent.

The former interim UFC Lightweight Champion has been linked with a fight against Nate Diaz in the past. However, that hasn’t come to fruition. Poirier now seems to be taking matters into his own hands and wanted a fight.

Poirier has lost two UFC title fights in his career, and it would make sense for him to move away from the title scene.

Poirier vs Diaz would have been an excellent clash in the Welterweight division. However, that might not take place either.

Nate Diaz vs Dustin Poirier is over?

Nate Diaz recently shared some of his thoughts on his UFC future as well. The Stockton star bluntly put out a message on Twitter claiming that he wanted to be released from the company.

Diaz suggested that he wanted to fight but since the UFC wasn’t giving him one, he wanted to be released by the company.

The UFC now has a big problem on its hands. Poirier is still one of the biggest names in the promotion and him wanting to fight is a good thing.

However, Diaz wanting to leave is a blow. Diaz vs Poirier would have been a blockbuster, and the UFC has to work hard to get Diaz on board.

Diaz only has one fight left on his UFC deal, and it will be interesting to see what is next for the two parties in this long drawn saga.
