Dustin Poirier was in no mood to let a Twitter user get away with one question
Dustin Poirier has been close to becoming the UFC Lightweight champion twice. However, The Diamond has fallen short on both times, and his latest loss was against Charles Oliveira at UFC 269.
This was his last fight in the UFC Octagon and the American has been keen on getting back inside to fight.
While Poirier has been an interim UFC Lightweight champion, one of his biggest achievements has to be defeating Conor McGregor.
He had lost to the Irishman at UFC 178 but has won the next two bouts. While he knocked out McGregor at UFC 257, the second win came in a different manner. The Irishman broke his ankle at the end of the first round at UFC 264, and there have been talks of a rematch between the pair.
Poirier was recently tweeting on social media but that didn’t stop the trolls from targeting him.
One claimed his days as a contender were over while another brought up that he had won nothing and was living off the win over the Irishman.
However, The Diamond had the perfect response to this question:
McGregor is the biggest draw in the UFC and fighting him ensures a huge payday.
Dustin Poirier looking to get back to action
The Diamond has been keen to get back into the Octagon, however, there is no clarity on who he is to fight next.
McGregor is a choice for sure, and a fourth fight could earn a lot of bucks. However, the Irishman is also keen on winning the Lightweight title and he could end up facing Oliveira next.
Then there is Nate Diaz. This fight should have taken place a few years back and it makes sense to pair the two up.
Diaz is another of the big UFC draws and a fight against Poirier will surely sell a lot.
