Dustin Poirier is hardly a month away from his title fight against Charles Oliveira

It has been a wild year for Charles Oliveira. Despite being on an eight-fight winning streak, there was not much talk about him fighting for the belt.

That was when Khabib Nurmagomedov announced his retirement and vacated his lightweight belt.

Oliveira was pitted against Michael Chandler for the lightweight title. The two were set to fight in the main event of UFC 262.

After almost succumbing to Chandler’s explosive power in the first round, Oliveira came back the better and stronger man to knock Chandler out and lay his hands on the title.

On the 11th of December, at UFC 269, Oliviera will defend his belt for the first time, against number one ranked lightweight contender Dustin Poirier.

Poirier is coming off two back-to-back wins over Conor McGregor, and is currently on a three-fight winning streak.

With the fight inching closer, the news of Oliveira being underestimated has been doing the rounds.

The Brazilian is certainly being overlooked by a majority of the MMA community. However, Poirier is not underestimating him.

Taking to Twitter, Poirier quote tweeted a tweet mentioning Oliveira being understimated.

“Not by me,” he wrote.

Charles Oliveira was last defeated by Paul Felder in 2017

The hard-as-nails, now-retired Paul Felder was the last one to hand Charles Oliveira an L. It was in December 2017 at UFC 218.

In the second round of the fight, Felder knocked Oliveira out with elbows. There was no looking back for the Brazilian after that.
