Dustin Poirier’s wife had one thing to say at Octagon after husband KOs Conor McGregor

Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor was always going to have a lot of talking points irrespective of which way the fight went.

This was one of the biggest fights of 2021, despite it being the first UFC PPV of the year. Poirier came into this fight after a great win over Dan Hooker. However, McGregor was fighting one year after his last win, which was against Donald Cerrone.

Many still backed McGregor to get the win and the Irishman had talked a lot before the fight. Poirier might not have been the favourite for many, but he used some smart kicks to keep McGregor in check.

The Irishman did have some hard hits early on but Poirier survived those and came back in the second.

A series of smart punches got the better of McGregor and the Irishman was down on the ground. Herb Dean rushed in to stop the fight and Poirier got revenge for his earlier loss to McGregor some seven years back.

Never doubt Poirier

McGregor and Poirier both had their families at the event. Poirier’s wife, Jolie, was at the event and she was seen celebrating as her husband was in the Octagon.

She had one message to share to the cameras and it was important given how many had written off her husband:

“I told you, that is the last time you will doubt my husband.”

Poirier was great in the Octagon and he seems interested in getting the belt from Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Russian told Dana White after UFC 257 that he still didn’t see something special in the Octagon, so Poirier should fight for the Lightweight title next.

It will be interesting to see who he goes up against. Michael Chandler impressed in his debut with an impressive KO win over Dan Hooker.

Charles Oliveira should also be in the running for a title shot after his brilliant win over Tony Ferguson.
