Conor McGregor will face Dustin Poirier in a trilogy fight on the the 10th of July at UFC 264
Conor McGregor will be hoping to settle his rivalry with Dustin Poirier, come the 10th of July. The pair will fight it out in a trilogy bout in the main event of UFC 264 in Las Vegas.
McGregor won the first fight at UFC 178 in September 2014, in a featherweight bout, that boosted his then-quest for the featherweight title.
Almost seven years later, McGregor succumbed to a knockout defeat at the hands of Poirier at UFC 257. This was the Irishman’s first-ever knockout loss.
6 months from UFC 257, the pair will face-off at UFC 264.
With just three weeks to go for the fight, UFC veteran Chris Leben who has Irish roots tweeted in support of McGregor. He highlighted McGregor’s explosive left hand, which is totally different gravy.
“Something in our blood. The Irish left, made differently. It touches them, they sleep. I’ll be at 264, fire in my blood, left fist clinched ready for war.”
Like McGregor, Chris Leben was known for his explosive power during his heydays.
McGregor and Poirier have been actively putting in the hard yards ahead of their trilogy bout. For the last couple of days, McGregor has been posting several photos of himself cycling.
He recently posted a photo of himself cycling along the streets of California with his Cadillac Escalade following him.
Following his post, his Twitter feed was bombarded with several replies from his fans.
It is pretty evident that McGregor has been working on his cardio, but will it be enough to stop the vastly improved Poirier?
