Conor McGregor shocked the world by tweeting about his retirement, again
Former two-division UFC Champion Conor McGregor posted about his retirement on social media, again.
The Notorious One hasn’t been in action since defeating Donald Cerrone in his comeback fight. McGregor had been linked with a title fight against Kamaru Usman recently while also suggesting a clash versus Jorge Masvidal could take place.
However, he shocked the UFC and fighting world by tweeting about his retirement right after UFC 250.
McGregor posted a message on social media and even kept a photo of him with his mother:
“Hey guys I’ve decided to retire from fighting.
“Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it’s been!
“Here is a picture of myself and my mother in Las Vegas post one of my World title wins!
“Pick the home of your dreams Mags I love you!
“Whatever you desire it’s yours.”
This would be a huge blow to the UFC if McGregor did retire all of a sudden, however, many fans pointed out this isn’t the first time the Irishman has pulled off something like this.
The Irishman isn’t someone who isn’t scared of speaking his mind. His retirement would have been huge news but McGregor has pulled off similar stunts in the past.
This isn’t the first time he has retired from fighting and has shared similar tweets in the past. One fan was quick to share a collection of tweets which had McGregor share almost the same message all the way from 2016.
Another suggested that he could be a millionaire or a billionaire if he had a dollar for every time McGregor used this message:
Amanda Nunes was in excellent form at UFC 250 and one cheekily said that McGregor didn’t want to fight the GOAT:
Many others called out the Irishman for his antics and took him apart on Twitter:
It certainly seems as a bit of a ploy from McGregor to get some attention and put Dana White in spot of bother. Henry Cejudo left the UFC recently while Jon Jones and Jorge Masvidal have also said they want to leave.
McGregor is still one of the biggest names in the world of fighting, and it will be interesting to see what is next for him.
