Islam Makhachev made light work of Drew Dober at UFC 259 and wants to fight Tony Ferguson next

Khabib Nurmagomedov might have been in the corner of Islam Makhachev but the Eagle didn’t have to sweat a lot as his friend fought at UFC 259.

Many have heralded Makhachev as the successor to Khabib in the UFC Lightweight division, and it showed.

Makhachev was taking on Drew Dober and the American is a tough opponent. However, the Russian dominated Dober from the first seconds and made him submit in the third round. Makhachev was never in trouble of losing the fight and this was a perfect example of how good he is.

His coach, Javier Mendez, believed that Makhachev could win the title if he fought for the gold. However, Makhachev decided to call out someone who has been linked with him in the past.

UFC fans worried for Tony Ferguson against Islam Makhachev

Makhachev is proving his worth in the Octagon and is on a seven-fight win streak now. He trains with Khabib and has an incredible MMA record of 19 wins and one loss.

Ferguson, for his part, is one of the biggest names in the UFC. However, he lost his last two fights and hasn’t looked all that great.

Justin Gaethje and Charles Oliveira dominated Ferguson. While El Cucuy is keen on returning to the Octagon, many UFC fans were worried that he would be destroyed by Makhachev.

Ferguson never backs down from a fight and he might just want to prove a point by taking up this clash.
