Dominick Reyes is set to fight for the first time after his loss to Jan Blachowicz against Jiri Prochazka next
Dana White has suggested that the next fight for Dominick Reyes is up against rising light Heavyweight star Jiri Prochazka.
Brett Okamoto of ESPN relayed that news on social media, and this would be the first fight for Reyes since his loss to Jan Blachowicz.
Reyes and Blachowicz met for the vacant Light Heavyweight title at UFC 253. This was a bit of a one-sided win for Blachowicz who got the title as Jon Jones moved up to the Heavyweight division.
Reyes came into this fight with a lot of confidence as he had taken Jones to the limit at UFC 247. Many suggested that Reyes had won that fight but Jones kept the belt.
Blachowicz, for his part, had been on a tear and at 37, became one of the oldest UFC champions ever.
Nevertheless, Reyes now has a chance to snap his two-fight losing streak, but it won’t be easy.
The 28-year-old Prochazka has been highly impressive since making his move to the UFC. He is on a 12-fight win streak and it will be interesting to see how he does against Reyes.
Reyes has a ton of championship ability and this would be Prochazka’s biggest fight in the UFC. A win for the Czech could see him close in on a title shot against Blachowicz.
Reyes, for his part, has to get his act together, Losing this fight would see him slide down the rankings and worse, this would be a third loss in a row.
Reyes had never lost a fight before facing Jones, and it will be interesting to see what changes he has made to his style after his last loss.
This clash is set to be the main event for the UFC Fight Night event on 27 February 2021, but many feared the worst for the former No.1 contender.
