Conor McGregor will be taking on Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in a trilogy bout
As the day for the trilogy bout between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier inches closer, the pair have begun firing shots on social media.
McGregor and Poirier will be out to settle their rivalry, this time for good, with the scoreline currently 1-1. The winner will get to fight newly-crowned champion Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title.
With the fight just three weeks away, McGregor posted an image that showed him on a billboard. He posted a cryptic caption with the image:
“First one to shoot’s a dusty b****,” he wrote.
Fans were all over McGregor’s tweet, but they found it difficult to decipher, what exactly the Irishman was referring to. Each came up with an opinion of their own.
Calf kicks or takedowns?
During their rematch at UFC 257, it was Poirier’s calf kicks that got the job done. ‘The Diamond’s kicks affected McGregor’s mobility and almost had both of the Irishman’s legs dead.
While some fans believed that McGregor was referring to Poirier’s calf kicks, a lot were convinced that it had to be takedowns that he was referring to, since he used the word ‘shoot’.
However, Twitterati made sure that they roasted McGregor for the tweet since they believed that the Notorious was being salty over an allowed move in MMA.
The fight is set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas in front of a full house. Stephen Thompson vs Gilbert Burns will be co-headlining the stacked card.
