Jorge Masvidal fights in a division higher than Dustin Poirier but their size difference suggests other wise
Dustin Poirier and Jorge Masvidal both have big clashes coming up. Poirier faces Conor McGregor in their trilogy fight, though the date for this Lightweight clash is yet to be confirmed by the UFC.
Masvidal, a Welterweight star, takes on Kamaru Usman, which is also a rematch. This is for the UFC Welterweight title and Usman defeated Masvidal in their previous meeting at UFC 251.
Masvidal vs Usman takes place at UFC 261 and it seems that Gamebred and Poirier are working hard to get into shape.
Poirier also posted a picture of him training with several stars, including Masvidal. However, one detail caught the eye of many fans.
Size makes all the difference?
From the picture it is difficult to say who fights in the heavier division between Poirier and Masvidal.
Gamebred looked much smaller than Poirier but that could have been due to the angle of the photo taken.
Poirier, for his part, is a big Lightweight and the weight cut must be something tough. He spoke about his days as a Featherweight a while back and confirmed he weighed 190 pounds during those days.
Both Masvidal and Poirier, like all MMA stars, cut a lot of weight before their fight. The weight changes dramatically before fights and on the day of the battle.
Some fighters go 10-15 pounds heavier than when they weigh before a battle but still, Masvidal looking smaller than Poirier caught the eye of many.
Many of them couldn’t believe who was the Welterweight and who was the Lightweight, and here are some of their reactions from social media:
