Daniel Cormier vs Stipe Miocic went the distance at UFC 252 with the champion keeping hold of his title
The final chapter of Daniel Cormier vs Stipe Miocic concluded at UFC 252 with Miocic coming out on top.
The pair were level at one fight win from their earlier exchanges, however, this was going to be the final clash between the pair.
Cormier had stated that he wouldn’t return to the UFC even if he won the title. However, it was Miocic who got the win in the end after a great display over the five rounds.
Cormier had his moments too but there was one incident that seemed to turn the tide. Miocic seemed to have poked Cormier’s left eye and it was later revealed that Cormier couldn’t see from the eye during the fight.
The condition of his eye wasn’t all that great during the post-fight interviews too, and Cormier added that he was going to battle through all this.

Ariel Helwani added that DC was on his way to the hospital for a check-up but this isn’t new in this rivalry.
Fans react to eye poke
DC was just as guilty as Miocic of eye poking his rival during their second meeting. However, Miocic was able to overcome that and still defeated DC to regain the title.
Miocic had to take time off and undergo surgery on his eye too, and it will be interesting to see the severity of the injury for Cormier.
Nevertheless, DC will go down as one of the greatest MMA stars of all-time. He is a two-division UFC champion and held the titles at the same time.
He also won several medals for amateur wrestling while representing the United States of America, and participated in the Olympics.
" I mean f—, look at my eye. I couldn't see the rest of the fight. I can't see anything out of my left eye. It's black."@dc_mma says he was unable to see after being poked in the eye by Stipe Miocic in the third round at #UFC252 pic.twitter.com/tC7bDDMjZL

He fought valiantly to end his UFC career on a high, but many came out in support of the former champ and shared their concern for the eye poke.
Gotdamn. It's like Cormier's eye was eating Stipe's finger. https://t.co/ipY16AtPLL

Others, however, shared DC’s eye pokes on Miocic from the previous fight:
Eye poke changed the fight with Stipe and Cormier?

Stipe had eye surgery after the last fight from DC’s pokes. Tough to feel sympathy for Cormier after he delivered about 8 eye pokes to Miocic over this trilogy (including 2 or 3 fingers deep ones in the first fight)
