Fight fans speculate that Conor McGregor might have contracted a staph infection

Conor McGregor has been actively preparing for his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. He will be looking forward to settling the scores in the heated rivalry, which is at least 7 years old.

McGregor gained the upper hand in the rivalry after going 1-0 up when he beat Poirier at UFC 178. But Poirier came back strongly when he beat McGregor, earlier this year, in the main event of UFC 257. McGregor was handed his first-ever knockout loss.

The fight is hardly 10 days away and is set to headline UFC 264 on the 10th of July in Las Vegas.

With the fight inching closer, both Poirier and McGregor have been showing off their war-ready bodies on social media.

More recently, McGregor shared a photo on Instagram flexing while on his cycle. However, there was more to it, as fans spotted a reddish spot near his left elbow.

A user named @chimaevsmash pointed out the same and it went pretty viral. A lot of users then began speculating that McGregor might have contracted a staph infection, which might put his fight against Poirier in jeopardy.

There were a few others who claimed that it might just be a normal rash, while a few others joked that it might be from McGregor falling off his bike.

Staph or not, McGregor is determined to get his hands raised when he takes on Poirier next weekend.
