Felicia Spencer challenged once for the women’s featherweight title and was also the former Invicta FC Featherweight Champion
Felicia Spencer who had been a part of the UFC for more than two years announced her retirement from the sport.
She had only fought as recently as November 2021, when she took on Leah Letson at UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs Rodriguez. Spencer beat Letson via. TKO in the third round.
News of her retirement came to light when Spencer told the website Fight Bananas:
“I’ve made the decision to be done with my fighting career, if you want to call it a career. I call it more of an opportunity. I’m done pursuing the opportunity. I’m really happy with where I left off.” [via ESPN]
Based on reports from several MMA news outlets, health concerns seem to be the primary reason for Spencer’s retirement.
Before joining the UFC, Spencer plied her trade entirely in Invicta FC. She made her debut at Invicta FC 14: Evinger vs Kianzad in September 2015 and started off with a win over Rachel Wiley.
All her losses came entirely in the UFC and all were decision losses. Known for her toughness, Spencer gave ‘The GOAT’ Amanda Nunes a tough fight when she fought for the UFC women’s featherweight belt at UFC 250.
Besides this, Spencer also fought notable names like Cris Cyborg, Megan Anderson, Norma Dumont.
Her MMA record reads 9 wins and 3 defeats.
