Conor McGregor suffered a nasty ankle break against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264
Conor McGregor suffered a horrific injury at UFC 264 in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. The Irishman broke his ankle at the end of the first round, which resulted in the referee awarding the fight to Poirier (TKO due to a doctor stoppage).
It was not the result McGregor would have wanted, as he writhed and raged in anger and pain at the post-fight interview.
As for Poirier, he gained the upper hand in the rivalry (2-1), in fact he has settled the rivalry. He now awaits a title fight against lightweight champion Charles Oliveira, at a TBA event.
Following McGregor’s ankle break, his old boxing rival, Floyd Mayweather mocked at him with an edited picture showing ‘The Irishman’ seated on a couch with his left ankle completely distorted.
Mr. Money also captioned it:
“Y’all got it twisted! I like how his shoes fit. Now, do the stanky leg.”
Floyd Mayweather bet on Dustin Poirier for his fight against Conor McGregor
Floyd Mayweather had bet $50,000 on Dustin Poirier in his fight against Conor McGregor. Poirier’s win earned Mayweather an impressive $35,714, as the legendary boxer took home $85,714.
Mayweather posted the bet slip on Twitter and thanked Poirier for getting him paid.
Both McGregor and Poirier responded to Mayweather’s tweet.
Poirer acknowledged Mayweather’s tweet, replying: “I got you champ.”
McGregor, on the other hand, mocked at Mayweather’s payout. He replied with a couple of laughing emojis to denote that $35,000 was nothing.
