It is Ciryl ‘Bon Gamin’ Gane vs Francis ‘The Predator’ Ngannou next
Ciryl Gane put on yet another masterclass, in the main event of UFC 265 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
The Frenchman had little to no trouble dispatching the dangerous Derrick Lewis, as he clinched the interim heavyweight title.
The vastly experienced Lewis could hardly land even a single strike, as an initially measured Gane slowly found his way to finish the American.
Lewis succumbed to a third-round TKO after a flurry of strikes from Gane, hurt the knockout artist.
Gane, in only his 10th fight in his MMA career, and 7th in the UFC, has already clinched the interim heavyweight belt, and will be taking on Francis Ngannou next for the heavyweight title.
Following Gane’s victory, Ngannou, who was watching the fight intently, congratulated the Frenchman on his success. ‘The Predator’ hoped to see him soon inside the Octagon.
Here is what Ngannou had to say:
“Impressive performance from Gane ! He’s now a legit contender. See you soon boy. When you know you know. #ufc265“
Only a couple of years ago, Gane and Ngannou were training partners at the MMA Factory Gym in Paris, before Ngannou moved out.
There are a couple of sparring footages of the pair going at it. Style-wise this might be a tough matchup for Ngannou, since Gane is technically elite.
Both the fighters have never been knocked out in their respective careers and it will be interesting to see how this pans out.
