Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones have been involved in a Twitter exchange recently
Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones trading verbal bombs on Twitter have become a regular sighting. It might probably cease only if a fight between the two materializes.
Due to a disagreement between Jones and UFC President Dana White on the grounds of fight purse, the fight is failing to see the light of the day.
After Ngannou recently told TMZ Sports that he wanted to fight Jones, the light-heavyweight GOAT took to Twitter to send a stern warning to the Cameroonian:
“Remember you’re not a champ until you defend that title. @francis_ngannou be careful what you wish for.”
No sooner did Jones tweet, than Ngannou fired back:
“Rumor says you don’t want to fight until next year. Don’t be scared Jonny boy, it’s just a fight.”
Ngannou referring to Jones not fighting until last year comes almost a fortnight after Jones tweeted the same.
In a Twitter fan interaction, Jones revealed that he might not fight for another year.
“Yes, I got a feeling you guys will still be around. The sport should be bigger than ever by then.. Always looking on the bright side.”
Jones’ last fight in the UFC came way back in February 2020. He faced Dominick Reyes in the main event of UFC 247. After successfully defending his title against Reyes, he decided to move to the heavyweight division in August, in a bid to pursue bigger challenges.
On the 15th of August, 2020, Jones relinquished his light-heavyweight title and moved to the HW division. And, despite actively training and packing on the muscle, he still hasn’t made his debut.
