The Twitter world was immediate showering praises on Blaydes for his impressive display. ESPN correspondent Brett Okamoto reacted to the moment by saying, ‘Yoooooo! Curtis ‘Ngannou’ Blaydes???? What a KO! Bannnnng!’

People were quick to credit this TKO victory, and Francis Ngannou took the comparison in good spirits by reacting to it with a joke of his own. He suggested that the knockout artist has transitioned to wrestling now after his splendid display against Ciryl Gane.

He put out a tweet by saying, ‘Ngannou is a wrestling now baby! 😉

It is highly unlikely that Curtis will get a chance to fight Ngannou in the neat future, since he has already fought him twice and got finished on both occasions.

One year ago today- Francis Nganou claimed the heavyweight belt

Francis Ngannou’s win against Overeem put him in the forefront to challenge Stipe Miocic, who was on a five-fight win streak having defended the belt twice. Francis started strong with ferocious movements and large swings trying to catch the champ but missed on several occasions. Stipe executed a brilliant game plan orchestrated by his team resorting to grappling and dominating him on the ground.

This was the start of a series of setbacks for Francis, who struggled personally with his team in France and Vegas. He went on to lose his second straight fight against Derrick Lewis in a rather disappointing display filled with lack of confidence, an unwillingness to engage, and hesitation.

Ngannou had to fight his biggest battle so far and rekindle the fighter within him that sent chills down every heavyweight’s spine. With this reborn spirit mixed with polished striking that he worked on relentlessly, he went on to win four back-to-back fights, and the world was reminded that Francis was here to stay. He earned a second shot at the UFC gold at UFC 260 and surprised everyone with his takedown defense, patient attacks eventually knocking out Stipe Miocic cold.
