Francis Ngannou has threatened to leave the promotion if his bag isn’t as big as he expects
Francis Ngannou is gearing up for probably the biggest fight of his career. The heavyweight champion is set to take on former gym mate Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 270.
However, ‘The Predator’ just has one fight left in his contract. This comes at a time right when his popularity has been peaking.
Following his title win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 260, Ngannou’s fame grew to a great extent.
But now, it looks like the Cameroonian isn’t happy with the current contract clause. In a recent interview with ESPN, Ngannou noted that with just a fight in his contract he wouldn’t continue in the promotion if it guaranteed only half a million.
He was quoted as saying:
“No. I will not fight for $500,000 [or] $600,000 anymore. It’s over. I took this fight for personal reasons, because I want to make sure that regardless of [whether] it’s fair, I can make my case that I have completed the fights.” [via BJPENN.com]
Francis Ngannou expresses desire to box Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder
Francis Ngannou recently expressed his desire to try his hand at boxing. The hardest puncher in the world wasn’t joking, he wanted to fight at the highest level – Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua and others.
In a recent interview with TMZ, Ngannou said:
“Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder — I would like to test myself to their level. “It’s not the same sport, but although I’m the champion, so I’m in the top in this division, and at the end of the day, it’s just about throwing hands, throwing punches, having a good delivery system to throw those bombs. And I’m sure that if I deliver my own punches pretty good, I can make damage.”
