Colby Covington was just behind Kamaru Usman in the Welterweight UFC rankings while Gilbert Burns was third
The UFC rankings seem to have gotten to Gilbert Burns with the latest release keeping him as #2.
The Brazilian is to fight Kamaru Usman for the UFC title, and many believe he can defeat the champion.
However, Burns left a scathing remark regarding the UFC rankings on social media. The promotion placed Colby Covington above Burns in the rankings, and that caught the attention of the Brazilian.
Covington dominated Tyron Woodley in his last fight and is keen on winning the title. However, Burns suggested that the American watched his win over Woodley and picked up some tips.
He also called out the UFC by adding that Covington beat someone who was on a two-fight losing streak and was ranked #5.
U gotta be kidding me! I beat Woodley when he was N1, than Colby came watches my fight do what I did n now he ranks higher than me? He just beat the number 5 and a guy coming from 2 loses n without a soul!

Burns wants the contract
While Burns vs Usman is set to happen, the UFC haven’t confirmed when the pair clash. However, Burns called out the promotion and asked for the contract from Dana White.
Burns has been reinvigorated since moving to the Welterweight division. The Brazilian was in the doldrums prior to that but he dominated Woodley and seems a good bet to take the title away from Usman.
As for Covington, the American continued taking shots at Usman, Jorge Masvidal and many others in the UFC.
Covington is a former UFC Interim Welterweight champion but lost the title clash against Usman. However, his return to form was brilliant against Woodley, and he could get a shot at the champion after Burns tackles Usman.
Covington also received some flack for some comments made about LeBron James recently. He is a huge fan of Donald Trump and got a call from the US President after he defeated Woodley.
