Gilbert Burns has the next fight for Rafael dos Anjos all planned out
Rafael dos Anjos is ready for his next fight and recently tweeted the timelines by when he could make weight.
The 35-year-old Brazilian is a former UFC Lightweight Champion and claimed he could make 155 pounds in five weeks.
He also suggested that he would be ready for 170 pounds in a day, and wanted to know if someone wanted to fight him.
The Brazilian currently holds a record of 29 wins and 13 losses. However, Dos Anjos has lost four of his last five fights with his latest loss coming against Michael Chiesa in January 2020.
While Dos Anjos was searching for a rival, Welterweight title contender Gilbert Burns decided to play matchmaker.
He decided to set up Dos Anjos with UFC commentator Paul Felder. While Felder has done a bang-up job on the microphone, he is also great inside the Octagon and holds a record of 17 wins and five losses.
Felder’s last clash against Dan Hooker didn’t go too well as he lost that to the Kiwi. However, the American would be more than a match Dos Anjos with Burns claiming this is main event worthy:
While it will be interesting to see if Dos Anjos and Felder do meet in an interesting clash, Burns also has some big things coming up.
The Brazilian was to face Kamaru Usman and fight for the Welterweight title at UFC 251. However, Burns was removed from the card after he tested positive for Covid-19. Usman went on to defeat Burns’ replacement Masvidal, and the pair should meet up soon.
Burns and Usman have the same management team and have a lot of respect for each other. But it will be interesting to see how things go when the pair do meet in the Octagon.
