Gillian Robertson created UFC history after defeating Poliana Botelho

Gillian Robertson was in fine form as she defeated Poliana Botelho at UFC Fight Island 6 and created history.

The Canadian might only be 25 but she already holds a few UFC records to her name. Robertson was tied with Valentina Shevchenko and Katlyn Chookagian for the most wins in the UFC Women’s Flyweight division.

Robertson and the rest had five wins to their name coming into this clash but she picked up her sixth win in at Fight Island.

The 25-year-old also holds the record for most stoppage wins in the division and most submissions in that particular division.

Robertson also holds the record for most fights in the division and it seems she is getting better with each fight under her belt.

Calling out the champ’s sister

Valentina Shevchenko is the UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion but her sister isn’t at the top of the ladder.

Robertson called out Antonina Shevchenko for her next fight and it makes sense as the other Shevchenko is slightly higher than the Canadian in the UFC rankings.

While Robertson created history in the UFC after her win, she wasn’t all that pleased with the win. She had a 100% completion rate in her UFC career but that streak ended with this unanimous verdict.

Nevertheless, it was quite a performance from Robertson and she moves to 9-4 in his MMA career. The Canadian has just two losses from her last 10 fights, and it will be interesting to see if the other Shevchenko accepts the fight.

The Savage has several quality years left in her and she could challenge for the title after a few more wins under her belt.
