Twitter rushed to congratulate Glover Teixeira after he beat Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi

Glover Teixeira created history by becoming the oldest first-time champion in the history of the UFC, at 42 years of age, after he beat Jan Blachowicz in the main event of UFC 267.

Starting out as the underdog, Teixeira upped the ante right from the very beginning of the first round.

He took down Blachowicz in the first round, and controlled him for the entirety of the round.

Just when it looked like Blachowicz was trying to get a foothold in the fight (during the second round), Teixeira rocked him with a massive strike, right to the jaw.

It was Teixeira all the way after that. The Brazilian, who turned 42, just a couple of days ago, finished Blachowicz with a rear-naked choke.

‘The Pole’ tapped out just seconds after Teixeira had tightened his grip.

It was elation for Teixeira and dejection for Blachowicz, as the latter sunk to the corner in disbelief.

Following his victory, Teixeira confirmed that he was looking forward to sharing the Octagon with number 2 ranked LHW Jiri Prochazka next.

The Czech weighed in as the stand-in fighter for the Blachowicz-Teixeira fight, and was also in attendance at the Etihad Arena.
